Where to Store Your Championship Rings

With the baseball playoffs in full swing, it’s time to discuss how to properly store and care for championship rings. Whether you won your championship rings in high school, college, club teams, or in a professional league or you simply like to buy them as a collectible, it is important to keep those rings clean and protected.

https://www.chasingtreasure.com/Fully-Locking-Wooden-Jewelry-Box-with-Tray-p/bbi-bb658ct.htm

Pick a Case with Plenty of Ring Space

Our men’s valet boxes will keep your ring collection free of dust and protected from scratches. Many of these boxes have special places for timepieces and others have spaces for other pieces of jewelry. The watch spaces are not appropriate spots for rings; so unless you have a collection of watches and rings, your money would be better spent on a traditional valet. Our Locking Wooden Jewelry Box with Valet Tray is a perfect choice for storage due to the number of ring rolls in the removable tray. Our Locking Wooden Jewelry Box 3 Level also has several ring rolls, too.

Store the Rings More than You Wear Them

Once you have the perfect storage system for your rings, it is vital to take great care of them. Most collectors and champions do not wear their rings on a daily basis. They are cumbersome on fingers, which means they are frequently bumped into tables, desks, and other heavy objects. Since most of the rings are made of 14K gold, they are easy to dent because that type of gold is quite soft. Championship rings are like class rings, the more they are worn, the more the engraved details wear down.

Clean Them Safely

When you need to clean a championship ring, it is is best to use steam cleaning. Buffers, polishers, and ultrasonic cleaners will destroy these rings over time. Buffers will actually remove a tiny layer of gold and so will polishers. Ultrasonic cleaners will remove the dark antique finish that many rings have to show off details below the engraved surface. Steam cleaning will remove grease and sticky substances like hair products from the ring without damaging it. The diamonds and other gems set in the ring will sparkle after a good steam cleaning. If the ring does need scratches buffed out of it, this should only be done softly and by-hand with a professional jeweler with experience.

Find a Jeweler Who Knows Rings

If you do decide to collect rings, or if you just have one, it is a good idea to find a jeweler that you can trust with your prized possessions. Some rings come with warranties, so it is a good idea to keep track of any paperwork that might come with your jewelry. If you need to take any medications, your body chemistry could react to the metals, which could alter the way the metal looks. A pharmacist, physician, or jeweler could inform you of the medicines that can do this. It is also important to do your hair and makeup before you put your special rings on your fingers, because the products and chemicals could harm the pieces, too.

Luxury Safe - Keeping Jewelry Safe at Home

Fine jewelry is not simply a fashion item, it is often very valuable, and like anything of value, you have to make sure that it is stored safely. Tucking away your jewelry in a drawer or in a simple jewelry box may be sufficient for small and inexpensive collections, but for extremely valuable jewelry collections you need to take stronger measures.

You can always opt to store valuable items in a bank's safety deposit vault but a more convenient option is to get a jewelry safe and keep your valuables at home. Chasing Treasure offers a compact luxury jewelry safe especially for people who want to keep valuables at home.

The compact luxury jewelry safe is ideal for small jewelry collections, or as a backup safe. It can fit into tight spaces or cabinets, and can be used in master bedrooms, vacation homes, yachts or guest rooms.

With its pearl white exterior finish and handcrafted walnut interior trays and lined compartments, this home jewelry safe is chic, compact and provides the storage versatility of a convenient jewelry box.  There are five walnut wood drawers with compartments and a luxury lining. The trays are removable, making it easier to arrange and rearrange jewelry or search for particular items. The drawers have different partition arrangements. One drawer is divided into four equal squares, another has five compartments across the width that would be perfect for bracelets and necklaces stored flat. The bottom drawer is undivided.

The safe has an impressive array of security features including a 1/2" steel pry-resistant recessed door and a 1/4" continuously welded body. In addition it has one inch chrome plated bolt-work and a UL listed high security digital lock. The lock and re-locker are protected by hard-plate and the bolt-work is protected against a side attack. It also features a spring loaded re-locking device and a solid steel dead bar prevents door removal. The heavy steel hinges round out the security features of this compact home jewelry safe.

The small unit offers commercial quality burglary protection while keeping your jewelry organized and accessible. It combines the safety of a bank deposit vault with the convenience and beauty of traditional jewelry boxes that you keep at home.  On top of this, it is elegantly designed and will fit in with the decor of your home, office or any other location where you choose to install it.

If you have jewelry or other items that are valuable enough to require the protection of a safe, then this compact home jewelry safe could be just what you are looking for. The list price for this safe is $3,500 but it is possible to buy it online for $3,000 which is a considerable savings. Weighted against the value of the jewelry that it protects and the peace of mind that proper security will bring you, investing in a luxury home safe like this one makes a lot of sense.

Jewelry Boxes - A Guide to Jewelry Storage

If you have been thinking about housing all of your jewelry in a convenient storage space, then you should consider getting a jewelry box that fits the needs of your collection. Jewelry boxes range in size from small leather travel wallets to large floor standing wooden boxes. This article give a survey of the various options open to you as you go about selecting a jewelry box that is right for you.

The most common and traditional form of jewelry storage is the wooden jewelry box. These boxes come in various sizes beginning with small dresser-top boxes and finishing with large floor standing wooden armoires. In between you can also find medium and large boxes that will fit on dresser tops.

The smallest wooden boxes are earring, cufflink, ring and pendant boxes that are as small as 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 x 1 3/4" to hold individual items. If you have more jewelry, the a medium size dresser top box measuring at least 10 x 7 x 6 inches might be appropriate. Larger dresser top jewelry chests or floor standing armoires are the best options if you have an extensive and varied collection.

In the same way that you prize your jewelry pieces, you can also select a jewelry box which is itself a luxurious and beautiful item. Luxury jewelry chests are usually handcrafted and have striking wood finishes such as mahogany, teak, maple or burlwood.

Partially or fully handcrafted, luxury chests feature piano finishes, compass hinges and luxurious linings. High end jewelry boxes range in price from $200 to over $700.

Wood is not the only medium for jewelry boxes. Leather is a versatile material that is found in jewelry storage pieces in all sizes and styles such as leather travel wallets, jewelry rolls, portable train cases, safety deposit cases, watch storage boxes, dresser top boxes and even huge leather trunks.

Leather jewelry boxes come in a variety of colors such as black, tan, white, green blue, red and even pink.

The type of collection that you have may also be a factor in which jewelry box you select. If you have a lot of necklaces then you should take a look at necklace armoires.

There are dresser top mini armoires with compartments enabling you to hang the necklaces, and for larger collection you can select from either floor standing armoires or wall mounted mirrors.

All of these boxes have side doors specifically made for hanging necklaces tangle-free.

If your jewelry collection is varied, then you have to consider the specialized dividers that are features of many jewelry boxes. You can find boxes with compartments for fashion earrings or bars for pierced earrings, padded rolls or deep storage for bangle bracelets, hooks or horizontal lined sections for chain bracelets, padded ring rolls for rings, padded rolls or lined compartments for cufflinks, hooks for necklaces and removable padded watch pillows for watches.  Not every jewelry box has all of these specialized compartments so think about what you really need and then pick a box that has the areas to fit your items.

Sometimes it is easy to find the box that you need. For example, if you are searching for a box to hold one or two special pieces or a box that will be part of a special present, then a trinket box is appropriate. These boxes are crafted from fine brass or pewter with hand enameled details. They sometimes have hand set Austrian crystals and 24k gold accents and make perfect keepsake gifts for the serious collector or someone special on your gift list.

Finally, if you really want to make an impression on someone then you can choose a wooden jewelry box that is specifically made for the presentation of a particular jewelry gift. You can find boxes for engagement rings, watches, earrings, pendants and necklaces.

So, consider what kind of jewelry storage you require, and then have some fun exploring the wide variety of jewelry boxes that are on the market today.

What To Do When You Outgrow Your Jewelry Box

Is that small jewelry box on your dresser top starting to overflow?  If you are faced with the problem of storing your jewelry in safe, uncluttered and eye-pleasing ways, then you will be happy to know that there are plenty of options for handling the overflow.  This article will give you some practical suggestions on what to do.

A simple solution is to purchase an additional dresser top jewelry box or jewelry storage case.  And while you are getting another box or case you can take the opportunity to specialize your storage. For example, you can move all of your silver jewelry into storage boxes with treated anti-tarnish linings. This will not only solve your overflow problem but will improve the protection to your valuable silver jewelry.

Another way to gain more space for your jewelry is to organize all your earrings in jewelry cases designed specifically for earrings. Most earring cases will hold 24-48 pairs of earrings, but you can also buy more if your earring collection is large. You can even purchase different colored cases and color co-ordinate the earrings to help you remember which case to grab when you need a particular pair. Better yet, you can get clear topped earring cases which will give you "grab and go" organization.

Where to put your necklaces can also seem like a challenge, but once again, there are some easy solutions to the problem.  You can purchase a metal art wall-hanging in a tree or vine design and drape your necklaces over them to create a nice display and to make it easy to find your favorite.

If it is quantity that is causing the overflow, you can upgrade to a larger jewelry box and hand down or donate the smaller jewelry box. If you are upgrading to something larger, then one of the best options is a floor standing armoire.

Unlike a jewelry box or case which sits on your dresser top, the jewelry armoire is a free standing piece of furniture. Armoires usually have drawers with special dividers designed to hold earrings and other jewelry, ring trays and hooks to hold necklaces and bracelets.  If you purchase a large enough armoire, there will even be room for scarves and lingerie.

If your jewelry collection is getting unwieldy then it is probably time for you to remove items that you rarely wear and store them in attractive jewelry storage cases. You can keep these cases in drawers and closets. If you do this then your jewelry will be organized and easy to find when you are ready for it.

Another way to get your jewelry overflow off your dresser top is to move the excess jewelry to a hanging jewelry organizer. These organizers are usually stored in a closet next to your clothes.

If some of your jewelry is particularly valuable and rarely worn, then you can move these items into a luxury locking jewelry box with a slim design that can be slipped into a safe.  Your every day jewelry, on the other hand, can be put in attractive jewelry dishes next to your bed or vanity.

Finally, you can also solve your storage problems by going through your collection and removing unwanted or broken pieces. You can hand down costume jewelry to children in your family who are starting their own collection, or you can give away family pieces that you don't wear. These will be sentimental gifts treasured by the other members of your family. If some of your excess jewelry is gold, then take advantage of the all-time high gold prices by selling broken chains, unworn items or mismatched earrings. You can then use this money to purchase the kind of jewelry that you want to wear often.

These are just some of the ways in which you can handle the challenge of storing more jewelry.

    Pearl Care and Jewelry Storage

Pearls are prized for their natural beauty and require proper storage and care to retain their natural luster. It's important to store pearls in a dedicated jewelry box, a soft cloth pouch, or in a lined jewelry compartment in your larger jewelry box where they will not come into contact with other jewelry.

Since pearls are an organic gemstone they require moisture to keep them from becoming dry and brittle. If your pearls are stored in a closed box, take them out periodically to avoid dehydration.

Pearls should not be stored in plastic, near heat, or near other hard jewelry items that could scratch them. Never leave them in direct sunlight or expose them to high temperatures. Pearl jewelry should always be removed before using household detergents like laundry soap or dishwasher soap.

While wearing your pearls, perfume and hairspray should not be used because the alcohol and harmful acids can damage them. Perspiration can also harm the beauty of pearls, dulling their beautiful luster. They should be wiped with a damp (not wet) cloth after each wear. Avoid conventional jewelry cloths that are chemically treated. They contain harsh chemicals that could damage the surface of the pearl. Use only cleaning products and cloths designed specifically for cleaning pearls.

To keep your pearls clean, wash them with a cloth dipped in mild detergent and water, or with a cleaner made specifically for pearls. Then, dampen a cloth with water only and wipe the pearls again. The pearls should be lain flat, not hung, to dry. If the string is wet, hanging them could cause it to stretch. Never wear your pearls while the string is damp or wet.

The silk string of your pearl strand will need to be replaced over time. Take them to a professional jeweler for restringing. Be careful not to get pearl strands wet or wear them while swimming or bathing, because water can weaken and stretch the silk thread.

Pearls will continue to be a favorite jewelry choice, complimenting both classic and contemporary styles. With proper storage and cleaning, they will retain their natural beauty for years to come.
