Fun with Feathers - Pins and Brooches

The changing seasons bring out new and exciting trends that have been developing through the prior months. This year is no different. Some fun trends seen on the cat walk feature feathers. Let's take a look at a great jewelry trend that you can embrace.

We've seen famous faces sporting feathers in their hair, feather pendants and long dangling feather earrings. Well, the trend finally caught up to pins and brooches!

Pins or brooches, as they are properly called, are still a beautiful way to show off your personal style. Brooches with trailing feathers off the pin are reminiscent of the feathers the Flapper Girls would wear in their hats and hair in the 1920's. We love seeing color combinations of turquoise/black, gray/red, blue/green and blue/yellow mixed together although just one color of feathers is just as desirable.

Also popular are vintage style silver or gemstone brooches in a feather shape that is really marvelous as a shoulder pin or scarf pin. They really dress up a simple outfit with pizazz and it is a unique look that you will not see everyone else wearing.

Because pins do have the sharp backing, make sure the clasp is closed before storing them in your jewelry box and depending on the stone or what it is made from, sliding it into a velvet jewelry bag first will protect it from other pieces and protect the pin itself from damage.

Take a look for some fun with feathers on brooches and pins and make a statement with your fashion style.
